Timeline A (prime): Jiaying is captured by Hydra in the 1940s but is subsequently rescued, after which she returns to Afterlife. Jiaying has Kora in the late 50s, but after struggling with her own powers Kora takes her own life in 1983. Jiaying leaves Afterlife, meets Cal, and has Daisy in 1988. Approximately a year after this, Jiaying is captured by Hydra again and experimented on to the point of leaving her near-dead; Daisy is put in foster care. Jiaying is put back together by Cal, but her psyche is irreparably damaged. Jiaying returns to Afterlife and guides Inhumans until 2015, when she's reunited with Daisy. Then the writing takes a fucked up and racist turn, Jiaying turns evil, Jiaying hurts Daisy, and Jiaying is murdered.

Timeline B (preferred): Jiaying is captured by Hydra in the 1940s but is subsequently rescued, after which she returns to Afterlife. Jiaying has Kora in the late 50s, but after struggling with her own powers Kora is seduced by the villain Nathaniel Malick in 1983. Afterlife gets super ransacked, but Jiaying and Gordon escape and then rendez-vous with SHIELD. Jiaying and Daisy talk and it's beautiful, but then Nathaniel tells Jiaying that in the other timeline she did bad things to Daisy who is in fact her other daughter and Jiaying is shook. Jiaying tries to kill Nathaniel, but he kills her first...

...OR DID HE. Come on. Why is a broken neck the only injury that Jiaying can't heal from? We don't play that way around here, friends. For the sake of play, she takes a couple of days to heal but then does, after which she bonds with Daisy, reunites with Kora, and goes on being her awesome kind self like she should have always gotten to do.

Jiaying (played by Dichen Lachman in Agents of SHIELD) was an Inhuman with the powers of healing, regeneration, and sustained life and also Daisy Johnson's birth mother. She lived in China, helping with and eventually leading the small, secret community called Afterlife which served as a refuge and rebirth-place for Inhumans. In the 1940s she crossed paths with Daniel Whitehall, who understood that she was special but didn't realize how until he met her again in the 1980s, at which point he tortured her and attempted to murder her in order to gain her regenerative abilities. Slightly prior to this, though, Jiaying had met a human man named Calvin Johnson and given birth to a daughter; after her attempted murder, Calvin - who had been experimenting with drug-induced enhancements to his body - went mad and swore vengeance. Daisy was lost in the crossfire and not found by either Jiaying or Calvin for many years, but Jiaying returned to Afterlife with darkness in her heart. She was still compassionate toward other Inhumans, deeply so, but sought vengeance against the organization that had tried to murder and use her, which she mistakenly believed was SHIELD. She was eventually able to mentor her daughter for a short time, but went mad with grief and attempted to kill her when she refused to turn against SHIELD (which to Daisy had become a family like none she'd ever had before), after which Calvin killed her. For the ease of threading, the writer dances around the eleventh-hour revelation of her antagonism most of the time or just touches on elements thereof.
scarifications: (when day cannot exist without a night)
canonpoint: timeline A sees her defaulting to pre-2.20 and the reveal of nefarious plots, timeline B sees her defaulting to post-7.10 + didn't die AU.
favorite threads: elaborate AUs explorations of relationships in better circumstances where nobody was a torture victim.
nos: kinks on the below no list, extreme violence/torture/death, dub/non-con (not just sex - see below), exclusively negative CR, unexamined bigotry, true alignment switch/Hydra AUs.

age: physically late twenties/early thirties, while in fact being probably closer to eighty or ninety.
shipping: permissions/kinks. Bisexual demiromantic, domme, open to smut I guess; favors Melinda, Alisha, and Peggy for canon ships.
cultural background: Chinese, Inhuman DNA, not really religious but spiritual enough.
demeanor: she's the sometimes-strict mom friend except for when she gets murdery.
mental health: PTSD and dangerous murderous rage (timeline A), recovering victim of torture and attempted murder (details differ from timeline to timeline).
physical health: aside from the scars from that torturing (timeline A), she's got self-healing abilities which also mean she doesn't really age (provided she occasionally sucks lifeforce out of other Inhumans, oops).
aesthetic: the prodigal daughter who came home and got super-traditional.
